Method
Cook Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare Chicken
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced chicken, honey, and black pepper. Cook until the chicken is cooked through and lightly caramelized, about 7-10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Make Cheese Sauce
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually add milk, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in cheddar cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt until smooth and creamy.
Combine and Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta, cheese sauce, and honey pepper chicken. Mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. If using, sprinkle bread crumbs on top. Bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
