Ingredients
  

Meat Mixture
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 cup onion diced
  • 1 cup green bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Creole seasoning adjust to taste
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar optional
Buns
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns toasted if desired
Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce for serving
  • 1 cup sliced tomatoes for serving
  • 1 cup pickles for serving

Method
 

Prepare the Meat Mixture
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  2. Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the Creole seasoning, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assemble the Sloppy Joes
  1. Spoon the meat mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted hamburger bun.
  2. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and pickles as desired.
  3. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
