  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, mix yellow cake mix, melted butter, egg, pumpkin puree, and vanilla until combined.
  2. In another bowl, beat cream cheese and eggs until smooth. Add remaining pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, and spices.
  3. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread cream cheese filling evenly over it, then top with remaining batter.
  4. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the edges are set but center is slightly jiggly.
  5. Prepare frosting by mixing softened cream cheese, brown sugar, unsalted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Frost cooled cake generously.
