  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks
  • 11 oz soft caramels or caramel bits
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream softened butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and chunks.
  7. Press two-thirds of the dough into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  8. Melt caramels with heavy cream until smooth; pour over the dough base.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough on top of the caramel.
  10. Bake for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
  11. Cool completely before slicing into squares.
