  • 240 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 g grated apples
  • 110 g vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 140 g sour cream
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 25 g butter (for caramel sauce)
  • 165 g powdered sugar (for buttercream)
  • 100 g heavy cream (for caramel sauce)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salted caramel sauce by combining granulated sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown. Add butter and heavy cream while stirring; set aside to cool.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, and all spice.
  3. In another bowl, mix granulated sugar with dark brown sugar and grated apples. Stir in vegetable oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into a greased baking pan and bake at 175°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the buttercream, beat room temperature butter with powdered sugar and mix in caramel sauce until smooth.
  7. Once cooled, frost the cake with buttercream and drizzle additional salted caramel on top.
