  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 8 slices crispy turkey bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into uniform meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Pour BBQ sauce over the browned meatballs; reduce heat to low and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. Slice sub rolls lengthwise and toast them in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Assemble each sub with several meatballs, top with shredded cheddar cheese and turkey bacon slices.
  8. Return assembled subs to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese.
  9. Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
