Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup softened butter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 8 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour (for filling)
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it lightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add flour, cinnamon, and salt until just combined. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake the crust for about 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  4. While the crust bakes, toss sliced apples with remaining granulated sugar, flour, and cinnamon in another bowl.
  5. For the streusel topping, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  6. Spread apple filling over the baked crust and sprinkle streusel topping on top. Bake for an additional 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Allow bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.
