  • 1 large yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 small Fuji apples, peeled and diced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons barley tea

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook the diced turkey bacon until crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
  2. In the same pan with remaining grease, sauté the finely diced onion on medium-low heat until translucent (about 8-10 minutes).
  3. Add the diced apples and cook until softened (about 4-5 minutes). Then mix in the minced garlic.
  4. Stir in brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, and cooked turkey bacon.
  5. Remove from heat and add barley tea; stir well before returning to low heat.
  6. Simmer for about 10-12 minutes until thickened to a jam-like consistency.
